What does AEO Certification represent?
AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) certification is a process that enables businesses to be recognized as trusted entities by customs authorities. This certification provides facilitations and simplifications in the import and export procedures of goods, enhancing the security and efficiency of transactions.
AEO Certification Categories:
There are 2 main categories of AEO Certification that involve different benefits and different eligibility requirements. An economic operator can be issued with one or a combination of the two types of certification.
Type C AEO: Customs simplifications.
Type S AEO: Safety and security.
Type F AEO: A combination of the two types.

AEO Certification Requirements:
Businesses of all sizes and roles within the supply chain are eligible to apply for AEO status. The specific criteria for AEO certification depend on the type of certification sought and typically include the assessment of financial stability, effective internal operational procedures, a dependable accounting and information management system, and adherence to customs and tax regulations. For Type S certification, additional standards focusing on safety and security are evaluated, both within the company and its business partners.

Benefits of AEOC at the National and EU Level:
Enhanced trust through financial solvency assurance.
Faster product deliveries.
Greater reliability and security in transactions.
Benefits of AEOC at the International Level:
Quicker deliveries and potential cost savings.
Shorter customs processing times and simplified customs procedures.
Improved reliability and security in international transactions.
Strengthened credibility as a trusted global business partner.
Easier access to new international markets.
Expanded Global Recognition of AEO Status
The AEO status is extended to third countries through Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs). The European Union has signed MRAs with Switzerland, Norway, Andorra, Japan, China, and the United States of America. Mutual Recognition means that participating countries acknowledge each other’s Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programs as equivalent, offering facilitations that support secure and efficient global trade.
Additionally, customs authorities collaborate with other government departments in sectors such as civil aviation, shipping, agriculture, and livestock to regulate the export of hazardous goods. This cooperation aims to align common requirements between the AEO program and other security initiatives, minimizing redundant checks and reducing additional costs.
The recent AEOC accreditation by Dadakarides Salt S.A. marks a milestone in strengthening the company’s competitiveness and credibility both in Greece and globally. The advantages of this certification extend beyond the company itself, providing substantial benefits to its customers and partners, and delivering a strong competitive edge both locally and internationally.
